California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a strategic USD 310 billion State Rail Plan to establish a fully connected, zero-emission passenger rail network by 2050, revolutionizing the state’s transportation infrastructure.

Testing of futuristic technology aimed at revolutionizing the transportation sector is currently underway in Nevada, USA. Hyperloop One, a Los-Angeles-based company responsible for developing the technology is working on a technical vision which was provided by Tesla founder and entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Californian authorities have threatened online transportation company Uber with legal action after they refused to adhere to state regulations in relation to its self-driving vehicles. Uber have deployed a number of its self-driving vehicles on the roads in San Francisco.

US-based global ride-sharing platform Uber Technologies Inc. has resumed its self-driving programs following the suspension of the pilot program due to a crash in Arizona. The Uber car involved in the accident was in self-driving mode when the collision occurred. However, it has been established that it was human-driven vehicle that failed to yield that was the cause of the car accident.
