  • DEWA’s Smart Living initiative shows big results

    The Smart Living initiative has achieved savings up to 179.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity and 67.7 million gallons of water, since its launch in July 2020 until January 2021. This is equal to savings of AED 52.6 million. Smart adoption of the initiative has reached 100% while 1.24 million digital visits have been recorded. The initiative reduced 15,643 tonnes of carbon emissions. Customer trust has increased to 92% while their satisfaction reached 98%. The initiative has improved the productivity of employees by 27% while the service quality has reached 94%.

    Dutch technology conglomerate Philips has introduced innovative 'smart lighting' which has illuminated one of China's largest bridges. Phillips Lighting Color Kinetics technology is providing the stunning visual lighting effects which can change up to 16.7 million colors.

    Telecommunications operator O2 has claimed that UK cities could potentially save £6bn per-year by upgrading to 5G. The findings are a result of a comprehensive report entitled 'The value of 5G for cities and communities' which was conducted by the UK operator.

    The US city of Rancho Cucamonga, which is located on the outskirts of Los Angeles, has formally announced that it has selected leading Internet of Things technology provider Echelon Corporation to overhaul its existing streetlight network infrastructure.
