Finland is set to introduce a scheduled driverless bus service to its capital city Helsinki following the conclusion of a series of trials which were conducted by local transportation authorities. A statement released by city transportation officials confirmed that autonomous transit will begin operations in autumn.

Chinese telecommunications behemoth Huawei has announced that continuous large bandwidth (100 MHz per operator) has become the key trend to drive future 5G business success. Huawei made the declaration at the Fourth Annual Asia-Pacific Spectrum Management Conference.

Huawei was the first ICT solutions provider to complete the entire second phase of 5G technology R&D test organized by the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group. The results obtained during the test were showcased at the PT/Expo China 2017.

Finnish telecommunications colossus Nokia has announced that it has sealed a major deal to supply 5G base stations to Japan's largest mobile operator NTT Docomo. The agreement represents the vendor's first large-scale 5G contract since the first formal 5G New Radio (NR) standard was established and subsequently approved in last month.

A US drone delivery company has announced that it has completed 77 autonomous deliveries from a local convenience store to customers’ homes. Australian start-up company Flirtey, which is based in Nevada, made the announcement this week which represents a significant step forward for future drone technology delivery services.

UK telecommunications colossus Vodafone has partnered with Swedish vendor Ericsson to trial next-generation 5G technology in Ireland’s capital city Dublin. Vodafone has claimed that the trial was a success and the pilot represents the very first live 5G test of the emerging technology in Ireland.
