  • US tech firm hopeful of deploying 5G services before 2020

    US multinational corporation and technology colossus Intel has announced that it is hopeful that it will be in a position to deploy 5G services before 2020. Intel has declared that its 5G Mobile Trial Platform will begin to support standalone new radio (NR) standard when it becomes available later this year. A spokesman for the US conglomerate also claimed it was an 'industry first'.

    A US startup that is developing a supersonic rail transit system which it claims will represent the future of public transportation, has announced that it will construct a research center worth $500m in Spain. Virgin Hyperloop One reached an agreement with Spanish state-owned rail infrastructure firm ADIF after a series of protracted talks.

    Telecommunications operator Vodafone New Zealand has announced that it has conducted pre-standard 5G trials in partnership with Nokia in an effort to demonstrate how it can evolve its networks from 4G to 5G.

    ZTE Corporation, a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, together with China Mobile and Qualcomm, announced that they have demonstrated a Pre5G gigabit rate solution in time division-long term evolution (TD-LTE) commercial network in Quanzhou, Fujian.
