A Chinese city described as the country's most important 'smart city' has opened a new Sky-Rail monorail transportation solution which has been designed specifically to curb urban traffic congestion problems in the city. The Chinese city of Yinchuan opened the new Sky-Rail facility which was developed by Chinese sustainable technology colossus BYD. It's the company's first proprietary monorail transit solution.

Dutch technology conglomerate Philips has introduced innovative 'smart lighting' which has illuminated one of China's largest bridges. Phillips Lighting Color Kinetics technology is providing the stunning visual lighting effects which can change up to 16.7 million colors.

TM Forum, the industry association driving digital business transformation of the communications industry, today unveiled its City as a Platform Manifesto to accelerate the development of smart cities globally. Launched at this year's Smart City InFocus event in Yinchuan, China, all Manifesto signatories share a common desire to develop a new city-scale data economy that drives sustainability and inclusivity, by using digital platforms.
