The US city of Rancho Cucamonga, which is located on the outskirts of Los Angeles, has formally announced that it has selected leading Internet of Things technology provider Echelon Corporation to overhaul its existing streetlight network infrastructure.
The chairman of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Ajit Pai has condemned the alleged proposal that the US government is considering the idea of nationalising 5G by constructing its own network amidst security concerns from Chinese technology companies.
The US government's scepticism and mistrust of China has been reiterated once more following reports it is set to nationalize 5G in an effort to further protect itself from the country. It has been claimed that the US plan to construct its own 5G network and thereby nationalise a portion of the country's mobile infrastructure.
The US city of Conway which is located in the state of Arkansas has formally announced it is set to introduce an Internet of Things platform in its efforts to become a leading 'smart city'.
Nee research into the global phenomenon of the Internet of Things (IoT) has claimed that revenue from the emerging technologies in the smart city sector will increase its total revenue from $25bn in 2017 to a whopping $62bn in 2026.
