The US state of Boston has unveiled a new technology center designed to help the city embrace 'smart mobility' solutions in an effort to alleviate traffic congestion issues.

The Department of Transportation in the US state of Minnesota has announced that it has officially commenced trials of its new driverless bus shuttles. The US state becomes the latest in a whole host of North American cities to trial new autonomous technology which if tested successfully will be subsequently integrated into its public transportation sector.

Aurora has become the first of several cities in the state of Colorado to deploy a smart bike-share system. Colorado is accelerating its effort to address the urban mobility issues which affect most of its cities, and officials believe the introduction of the 'Spin dock-less bike-share system' can finally resolve the problem.

Project Loon, a network of balloons traveling on the edge of space, designed to extend Internet connectivity to people in rural and remote areas, developed by Alphabet subsidiary 'X' (formerly Google X), has been working with satellite company SES to restore 4G/LTE connectivity to disaster-stricken Puerto Rico.

Ford Motor Company said it has formed a partnership with ride-sharing service Lyft to deploy self-driving vehicles on Lyft's network in large numbers by 2021. The two companies will work together to design software that will allow Ford vehicles to communicate with Lyft's smartphone applications.
