US to continue to assist India in development of ‘Smart Cities’ under Trump

US officials have confirmed that they will continue to assist India in the development of ‘smart cities’ in the region under the administration of president elect Donald Trump. During the reign of Barack Obama, India and the US signed a series of memorandums of understanding which was aimed at specifically developing three ‘smart cities’ in Allahabad, Ajmer and Visakhapatnam.

A Chinese smart home technology leader has signed a large contract with Orange as they seek to boost user experience with seamless IoT connectivity.

Chuango Technology Security Corporation - a firm based in China officially announced the signature of its three-year deal with Orange Business Services.

Gartner says Indian cities won’t be all that smart

Gartner has put a damper on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to create 100 smart cities: Gartner estimates that, by 2020, fewer than 10 percent of India's smart city projects will be of a large-scale, city-wide nature.

Modi launched the Smart Cities Mission in June 2015, allocating a total of $US5 billion for the development of 100 smart cities and the rejuvenation of 500 others.
