The initiative, signed in Bahir Dar, the capital of the region, will digitally transform court operations by establishing secure network infrastructure, cloud services, modular data centers, and advanced digital technologies. This state-of-the-art project will enhance communication in the region's courts, ensuring a secure and efficient information exchange.
Digitalizing Judicial Procedures
The ‘Smart Court’ project is designed to improve judicial services by enabling courts to adopt digital procedures, offering clients the option to access services either in person or through e-court platforms. This innovation is expected to reduce bureaucracy, save time, and deliver economic benefits to individuals and businesses.
Ethio Telecom's CEO, Frehiwot Tamiru, alongside the President of the Supreme Court of the Amhara National Regional State, Alemante Agidew, visited the Supreme Court building, which is currently undergoing renovations to accommodate the infrastructure necessary for the Smart Court project. The upgraded facility will provide a modern environment to support the delivery of quality judicial services.
"This partnership underscores our commitment to driving digital transformation and fostering an inclusive digital economy across Ethiopia," said Tamiru. "We are proud to play a pivotal role in enabling institutions like the judiciary to better serve their communities through technology."
The Smart Court project forms part of Ethiopia’s broader mission to support the digital modernization of various sectors across the country, reaffirming its role as a key initiative enhancing Ethiopia's digital transformation journey.
