Metro Manila, one of the three metropolitan areas in the Philippines, has just completed an AI-powered video surveillance pilot and revealed that it has partnered with Iveda to work on a series of smart city projects.
Iveda announced its first successful pilot in the Philippines with its OvedaAI intelligent video search technology within Metro Manila.
Iveda’s exclusive technology partner in the Philippines, Filcomserve and solutions provider, Orange IT, conducted the paid pilot. In addition to this, they are collaborating with Iveda to obtain more IvedaAI appliances to fulfil the needs of the city of Caloocan, one of the 17 cities within the Metro Manila area.
IvedaAI has used existing security street cameras and has successfully tested its product in some of the busiest intersections in Caloocan. Indeed, the city currently possesses 150 outdoor cameras in around 90 different locations along with 50 other indoor cameras at Caloocan City Hall.
Caloocan’s director of City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, James Lao, said, “We have several surveillance I vendors offering and providing proof-of-concept but IvedaAI is the most effective, easy to use and very much cost effective. AI applied to our existing surveillance system is an essential solution to improve our safety and security monitoring.”
IvedaAI’s license plate recognition will be used along with vehicle wrong direction functions in some of the city’s major intersections and bust roads. In addition, Caloocan plans to use IvedaAI’s facial recognition along with people counting and intrusion detection capabilities in Caloocan City Hall’s entrances and exits, over-crowded areas and street markets.
“Smart Cities need more than just security technology. It must embrace the IoT movement. We are empowering cities with our proprietary AI-based, IvedaIoT platform that can manage a variety of sensors throughout the city to aid administrators and officials in making prompt decisions for immediate action,” said Iveda CEO, David Ly.
Some of the main users of IvedaAI will be Traffic Group, Rescue Division and Caloocan City Hall Internal Security Group.
The technology provided by IvedaAI will be intelligent enough to trigger action when physical human intervention is not timely enough in emergency situations, through a rule-based “what of” scenario. This will also comprise of sensors all over the smart city and a platform to manage them, send alerts and take action depending on the circumstance which will save time and lives too. It will ensure a safer environment for its citizens and at a relatively low cost.
The sensors will enable the automatic and remote shut-off of water valves, lighting, thermostat adjustments, management of load controllers and switches, cutting electricity to equipment and calling a caregiver for elderly people in the event of an accident.
Iveda has also revealed that they have engaged with its telecom and utilities partners in the Philippines in an effort to offer the end-users more digital services. Some of these offerings include Iveda smart home and building services through leveraging IvedaAI and IvedaIoT’s management platform.
