Swedish network operator selects partner for its nationwide IoT rollout

Swedish network provider Blink Services, which provides LoRaWAN for 'smart city' solutions has announced that it has selected its partner for its nationwide Internet of Things program. Multi-Tech Systems has been chosen by the Swedish firm after an intensive vetting process. It has been reported that Multi-Tech's close working relationship and shared partnership with French LPWAN organization Actility played a significant role in the company earning the contract.

It has been disclosed that both entities will work closely together in order to set the standard for how things communicate with each other at both local and national level. The combination of its shared expertise will help accelerate connectivity and scalable services that will ultimately facilitate the 'digitalization' process required in order to provide a foundation for cities to be able to properly adapt and adopt 'smart applications'.

In the Nordic region, the Internet of Things is continuing to grow exponentially. The Swedish government has led the momentum towards IoT and has strongly supported organizations and companies involved in developing 'smart city applications and systems'. In addition to this, it has been further disclosed that by leveraging Multi-Tech as a hardware partner it will subsequently increase the speed of implementation across all processes.

CEO of Multi-Tech, Stefan Lindvall expressed his delight at the formation of the partnership between both companies. He said, "LoRaWAN is particularly well suited to smart city applications. We're pleased to work with Blink to enable such solutions across Sweden."

Managing Director of Blink Services, Matts Lilja said Multi-Tech unique skillset, expertise and experience were the critical factors in choosing them as partners for the innovative project. He said, "Multi-Tech's proven expertise was one important reason for choosing their solution. Another reason was the quality process from beginning to end. Multi-Tech is an important ally with vast experience and hands-on knowledge."

It has also been highlighted that Blink Services has also developed its own applications with its sister company Blinkfyrar, which is a Swedish road signs supplier. Monitoring and maintenance of road signs is turned into an automated task, replacing manual supervision.

A road sign that is equipped with Signsensor will report any deviation, activate an alarm and report the discrepancy and action can be taken, eliminating the need to regularly and physically inspect the status, claims Blink.
