As part of the civic body’s new digital strategy, Dubai municipality announced seventy ambitious digital programmes to be undertaken in partnership with the private sector for a future-ready government department. The announcement was made during the first edition of its annual Digital Forum – Towards Building a Digital City that took place virtually.
The strategic digital initiatives will be undertaken in the following sectors — customer experience, transition to business automation, digital operating model, city management, resilient and secure infrastructure, AI and information management, and system of records.
Commenting on the development, Asmahan AlZarooni, director of IT at Dubai Municipality said, “It is of critical importance that we stay abreast of key technological changes taking place. Our digital strategy is built on three pillars — customer happiness, digital operations and intelligent enterprise.”
“Our strategy aims to achieve the following — industry innovation, customer’s happiness, enhancing the digital mindset, data reliance, and sustaining performance,” she added.
Meanwhile, Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said, “Digital government is a not a new concept. Over the last few years, the Dubai government has carried through the wave of computerisation in a bid to develop improved opportunities to citizens and residents across all government department.”
The Dubai Municipality recently achieved a 100 per cent reduction in papers use during the year 2020, equivalent to 20,960,743 papers annually.
The initiative helped save over Dhs 95m and more than one million working hours.
