Dubai Integrates Smart System for Cycling and E-Scooter Track Monitoring

RTA Smart System

Marking an innovative advancement in urban mobility management, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has integrated smart technologies to monitor cycling and e-scooter tracks, enhancing road safety, optimizing maintenance efficiency, and improving the users’ soft mobility experience.

This cutting-edge system utilizes advanced cameras and sensors mounted on electric bicycles to deliver precise analysis and performance evaluation of track conditions without disruptions.

The project demonstrates a significant leap in efficiency, boasting a 98% speed improvement by assessing 120 kilometers of cycling tracks in just four hours, compared to the 2.25 km covered by traditional daily methods. Over a month, it can analyze 557 kilometers of tracks—92% more than conventional approaches.

The smart monitoring system also allows proactive track assessments and predictive maintenance to improve resource management efficiency and encourage financial and environmental stability through operational cost reductions and maintenance of emergency requirements.

This initiative aligns with Dubai’s Sustainable Mobility Vision 2030 and is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to leverage advanced technologies to strengthen Dubai’s position as a bicycle-friendly city and global leader in smart and sustainable mobility.
