In groundbreaking advancement, Gorilla Technology has entered a multi-year agreement with ONE AMAZON to launch the world’s first Internet of Forests (IoF). This initiative brings together key industry players including AECOM, CAF (Development Bank of Latin America), Abu Dhabi Investment Group (ADIG), MIT Media Lab, and Goldman Sachs.
The IoF represents a significant milestone in environmental conservation, deploying the world’s largest network of biodegradable sensors across the Amazon. This innovative project integrates advanced technologies such as satellite imagery, drone surveillance, ground-based environmental sensors, and bio-sensing techniques to provide real-time insights into Amazon’s health ecosystem.
Gorilla Technology, a leader in AI and IoT solutions, will deploy cutting-edge AI, data intelligence, and security solutions, enabling real-time monitoring of the Amazon Rainforest. The company will also provide the IoF’s critical infrastructure, including advanced environmental sensors monitoring various parameters, high-performance servers for data processing, AI algorithms for predictive analysis, and resilient communication networks ensuring uninterrupted data flow.
Jay Chandan, Chairman and CEO of Gorilla Technology Group Inc., stated, “Gorilla Technology is not just a partner in ONE AMAZON—we are now part of its core team, driving the digital and economic transformation of the world’s most valuable natural asset. The Internet of Forests is more than a network of sensors; it is a groundbreaking framework where AI, blockchain-backed digital assets and real-time environmental intelligence converge to create the world’s first fully quantified and investable natural ecosystem.”
Advancing Sustainability while Driving Economic Growth
The IoF is set to create the world’s largest database on rainforest sustainability, including deforestation rates, biodiversity changes, carbon sequestration levels, and other critical environmental metrics. The move will strengthen scientific research, guide policy-making, and raise global awareness about preserving rainforest ecosystems.
Goldman Sachs will develop a revolutionary tradable financial platform that turns natural capital into digital assets. The real-time data collected through the IoF will support the platform's establishment of a secure system and monetization of conservation impact. This blockchain-based system will create nature-backed digital securities, Amazon-linked blockchain tokens, AI-powered ESG valuation models, and regenerative finance mechanisms. By integrating smart contracts, decentralized ledgers, and tokenized assets, the platform will ensure long-term financial support for Amazon’s conservation.
The ONE AMAZON initiative empowers indigenous communities, involving them in conservation efforts and providing sustainable economic opportunities.
Rodrigo Veloso, Co-founder and CEO of ONE AMAZON, emphasized, “This collaboration represents a transformative step towards securing the future of the Amazon biome. With Gorilla Technology’s cutting-edge AI and environmental intelligence solutions, alongside the commitment of our global consortium partners, we are not only protecting the rainforest but unlocking its true value in a way that benefits both nature and people.”
As the world’s most vital natural resource, Veloso believes that the Amazon Rainforest’s ecological and economic importance will exceed one trillion dollars within the next decade.
Brazil Invest ADIG’s CEO Renato Costa and Chief Sustainability Officer Alvaro Garnero highlighted the significance of valuing the Amazon Biome and shaping a sustainable future for the Amazon and beyond.
Jaime Niño Tarazona, Head of LATAM at AECOM, reaffirmed the company’s expertise in infrastructure, water management, and renewable energy to deliver large-scale solutions needed to support the initiative. “By designing eco-friendly, climate-resilient infrastructure and supporting the deployment of the world’s largest network of biodegradable sensors, we will create an unprecedented environmental intelligence system. This will not only help safeguard the Amazon but also establish a global benchmark for sustainable ecosystem management.”
