In a significant move to fast-track Lagos’ smart city transformation, MTN Nigeria has strengthened its partnership with the Lagos State Government, strengthening digital infrastructure and improving service delivery across the country.
Central to the initiative is the My Lagos App, a one-stop digital platform designed to streamline public services and enhance residential urban living. The app provides real-time access to transportation updates, emergency services, utility payments, business listings, and tourism information.
Highlighting the significance of technology in modern governance, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat stated, “In today’s rapidly evolving world, technology has transitioned from a luxury to a necessity. By strategically harnessing it, we are not only enhancing governance and improving service delivery but also enriching the lives of Lagosians.”
MTN Nigeria CEO Karl Toriola emphasized the app’s transformative potential for urban management and access to government services stating, “Lagos’ economy rivals that of entire countries, and to maintain its position as a leading African city, digital connectivity must be prioritized.”
Toriola also highlighted that Lagos continues to grow as a ‘hyper city’ with over 20 million residents, and digital solutions like the My Lagos App are essential for sustaining economic growth and enhancing city management.
To support this smart city vision, MTN Nigeria has invested significantly in Lagos’ digital infrastructure, including West Africa’s largest data center, an advanced facility designed to improve digital services across the region.
“We are committed to deepening our presence in Nigeria and Lagos,” Toriola added. “This investment in digital infrastructure aligns with the state’s ambition to become Africa’s most important city.”
